Editor's Note
This fountain lies within the boundaries of Işıklar village, in the central district of Çanakkale province. Built of stone in the middle of a long trough, it now sits below the level of the road. Damaged sections have here and there been patched with cement plaster. The marble inscription on its pediment, written in Ottoman Turkish in the thuluth script, reads: "The benefactor and doer of good works Çobanoğlu Mehmet Ağa had this built. 1296," indicating that the fountain was commissioned by Çobanoğlu Mehmet Ağa in 1879.
