Editor's Note
The building was constructed in 1850 by Sultan Abdülmecid as the barracks for the redoubts built inside Çimenlik Castle. After the Treaty of Lausanne, in order to ensure the security of the straits, it was used as a Gendarmerie Privates' School between 1923 and 1936.
