Editor's Note

It stands by the roadside in Ergili village, Bandırma, Balıkesir, near the ancient graves, at the point where the road to the ancient city of Daskyleion begins. There is no information on whether the date in the inscription is a Rumi or Hijri date, but since the Rumi calendar was more widely used in the later period, it is most likely a Rumi date. The fountain inscription reads: "This is the charitable endowment of Refik Efendi, son of Aksakallı Sancakdarzade Hüseyin Ağa. Year 1325 (Rumi: 1909, Hijri: 1907)."
