Editor's Note
The Kurşunlu Mosque stands on Çeşme Sokak, off İstiklal Caddesi. According to its inscription, it was commissioned by Süleyman, son of Davut. Dated AH 874 / AD 1469, the mosque has a near-square form, a hipped roof and a wooden ceiling. We learn about the building's patron and date of construction from the inscription on the structure. It bears a two-line inscription in the thuluth script, which reads: "Süleyman bin Davut, its owner and proprietor, in the year 874 (1469)." The building was ruined in the great Biga fire of 1318 (1900). It was later rebuilt in AH 1324 / AD 1906.
