Editor's Note
During excavations at the ancient city of Parion in Kocagür village, in the Biga district of Çanakkale, a three-line inscription in "Phrygian" was found on a broken marble block. While Prof. Dr. Cevat Başaran's excavation team was surveying the area around Parion, a broken marble block was discovered in the village square of Kocagür, and it was determined that the block bore a three-line "Phrygian" inscription. Archaeologist Alper Yılmaz told an AA correspondent that the villagers had brought the inscribed stone from the pool-bottom area years earlier and placed it in the village square.
