Editor's Note
It lies in the valley of the Balık Gölü stream, on the high rocky outcrop at the southwestern tip of the village. The castle is surrounded by fortification walls built of large, half-worked stones. The walls, better preserved on the south side, survive in places to a height of up to 2 m, though no clear plan can be made out. Its architectural features and pottery show that this was an Urartian castle. There are abundant sacred rock markings on the castle. Illegal excavations and natural deterioration are present. In terms of its location, architecture, and finds, it holds an important place within the Urartian period.
