Anatolian Beylerbeyi Behram Paşa and Karaman Beylerbeyi Mahmud Paşa were assigned to put down the rebellion. Before these forces could arrive, the Beylerbeyi of Sivas, Yakup Paşa, was defeated by Kalender. Then Kalender, forced to retreat in a clash with Diyarbekir Beylerbeyi Deli Hüsrev Paşa on the Pasin Plain, went on to defeat Anatolian Beylerbeyi Behram Paşa at Karaçayır.
