Editor's Note
The mosque was built in 1454 AD by Gülabibey, the Governor of Erzincan and one of the Akkoyunlu beys, on a square plan with a mixed timber-and-stone construction resting on 12 posts. Later, in 1837, when a courtyard section was added by Hacı Bilal Ağa, one of the Çaba beys, the mosque took on a rectangular shape. The cut-stone mosque has a minaret 25 meters tall. The mosque, which holds three inscriptions of different dates, also houses a relic of the Prophet's beard (Sakal-ı Şerif).
