Built in the mid-1940s as a boarding school for students coming from the surrounding villages, it served as an orphanage and youth care home between 1951 and 1984. Two masonry buildings still stand in a broad open area at the entrance to the village. After the village of Zirkayı (now Yenikayı) was evacuated in 1981 on the grounds of landslide danger, the youth care home was moved to the Fatih neighbourhood of Sincan and the buildings here were abandoned.
