Editor's Note
The fountain in the Dinkçiler neighbourhood stands next to the minibus depot serving the Savaştepe and Soma directions, adjoining the wall of a taxi stand. The fountain is a tall, pointed-arched structure built of well-dressed cut stone, with a marble inscription. The inscription is dated AH 1145 / AD 1732–1733, and the fountain's patron was Fatma Hatun, the wife of Seyyid Muhammed Çelebi of Balıkesir. Its water is said to come from the Gökköy direction, 8 km away.
