Also along the Lower Aisepos valley, beside the Gönen River, in the area marked as Ilıcatepe on Kiepert's maps, stands a fortification dated to the Late Roman and Early Byzantine periods. This fortification, which appears not yet to have been seriously studied, lies in the village of Ilıcaoba, about 15 km southwest of the centre of Gönen district. Near the village, at the hard-to-reach locality of Kaletepe, lie the remains of the fortress.
