Editor's Note
The Romans met the water needs of their buildings in the centre of Ankara with water brought from the stream valleys on the slopes of Elmadağ. This network, known as the "Ancient Roman Aqueduct," begins at the Kıbrısköy valley and reaches the "water gallery" at the Hanımpınar locality. From there, by means of andesite-stone pipes and fired-clay conduits, it was carried to the city centre via Mamak-Değirmibahçe (Demirlibahçe)-Atpazarı.
