It is located at the Kaleyeri locality within the bounds of Akköy village in the Ezine district of Çanakkale province. The largely collapsed defensive walls can be seen to have been built with small ashlar stones and a white lime mortar mixed with small brick fragments. The structure inside the castle, uncovered by illicit digging, runs east-west, and its semicircular apse shows that it was a church. Large quantities of ceramics and terracotta building and roofing materials have also been identified in the area. Among the finds, the earliest are red-slipped, unglazed ceramic sherds of the Byzantine period.
