It lies along the bank of the Kara Dere streambed within the village of Kestanelik in the Ayvacık district of Çanakkale province. In this Ottoman Yörük cemetery there are simple earth graves ringed with rubble stones, along with marble headstones bearing turbans and women's headdresses, and footstones. In the derelict cemetery of this small, abandoned hamlet, where Roman and Byzantine spolia were also reused, the simple grave type known as Yörük graves, circularly bordered with rubble stones, is widely found.
