Surveys carried out around the harbor have uncovered wall and column remains indicating the presence of a maritime structure. Strabo records that its name was Achaion and that it lay directly opposite Bozcaada, and Leaf and Cook localize it similarly. The city was among the harbor towns of Hellenistic and Roman Troas and minted coins in its own name. It is situated within the boundaries of Kumburun village in Ezine, around the Akyarli fishing shelter. Musa Tombul (Canakkale Cultural Inventory), J.M. Cook (The Troad), W.
