Editor's Note
The Celebi Mehmet Mosque is among the oldest monuments in Sogut. Located in the marketplace, the mosque was built between 1414 and 1420. Architecturally it today differs from its original form. Through the alterations made, the building was enlarged, and it took its present form through the restoration work carried out in the reign of Sultan Abdulhamid II. Located in the town center, the mosque has a near-square rectangular plan and is multi-domed. Its central dome features the "lantern" skylight, one of the characteristics of Seljuk architecture.
