Editor's Note
Dursun Fakih, about whose life little is recorded in the sources, was from Karaman, the son-in-law of Sheikh Edebali (d. 726/1326) and the brother-in-law of Osman Gazi. He studied Quranic exegesis, hadith and jurisprudence under Sheikh Edebali, became his disciple, and completed his spiritual training at his side. He took part in battles alongside Osman Gazi and served as imam to the warriors. After the conquest of Karacahisar (today Karacasehir, a village in the central township of Eskisehir's central district) in 688/1289, he was appointed by Osman Gazi as the city's judge and as imam of the mosque converted from a church. There he delivered the first Friday sermon in his name.
