Bursa businessman Ibrahim Katircioglu came to Karakoy and took over the flour mill there. Kenan Eler, of Nigde origin, and Ibrahim Katircioglu, of Egyptian origin, who founded their venture in Istanbul in 1937 and later brought the Karakoy Flour Factory into operation, had no idea they were also the architects of one of Turkey's largest flour factories. Though they did not realize it, fate would make them flour giants. Having turned the mill into a factory, Eler and Katircioglu, with a plant employing 60 people and producing 150 tons of flour, were competing for the top of the sector.
