The remains of the masonry bridge on the old Balıkesir–Bandırma highway carry historical value. This bridge, whose ruins survive today, was built at the latest in 1891, when the Balıkesir–Bandırma highway was completed. Before construction of the Balıkesir–Bandırma highway began in 1885, there was already a road leading from Susurluk toward the direction of Eski Manyas. This suggests that the bridge may be older than the highway. Indeed, it was not demolished during the construction of the new bridge precisely because of its historical value.
