Editor's Note
The Balıkesir (Kepsut–Kebsud, Karasi, Karesi) Agricultural School (1915–1927) was the first agricultural school of the Republic of Turkey. It was founded in 1915 in Kepsut, Balıkesir, as the "Farm School." Closed during the Greek occupation, the Kepsut Agricultural School served as a military barracks, and after the proclamation of the Republic it reopened as Turkey's first agricultural school under the name Kepsut Agricultural School. In August 1927 it was temporarily closed because of its high costs, and in 1928 it was closed altogether; its teachers, students and very valuable agricultural implements were sent to Bursa.
