Editor's Note
Kazdağı National Park is a nature-themed national park in the Edremit district of Balıkesir. It takes its name from Kazdağı (Mount Ida), which forms the boundary between the Marmara and Aegean regions. Its transitional climate, the mingling of sea and mountain climates, and a landscape cut by river canyons make it rich in endemic species. Foremost among these is the Kazdağı fir; 77 species endemic to Turkey have been recorded on the mountain, 29 of which live only here.
