Canli Baba is said to have lived in the middle period of the Ottoman Empire, his real name being 'Emir Ali Sultan,' and he was known for the good deeds he did for the people of the region in his time. There was a Canli Baba lodge in this region; after the lodge was closed, its buildings fell into disuse and over time collapsed. Today only the tomb of Canli Ali Baba still stands. The people never abandoned this place, and until the 1950s they held the Ahi tradition of belt-girding ceremonies here every year.
