Editor's Note
On the map of the ancient walls of Malazgirt titled 'Plan of the Ancient Fortifications of Melazkert,' prepared by H. F. B. Lynch and F. Oswald, the structure marked number 1 is labeled directly on the map as 'Mosque with Minaret.' This building stood in the southwest of the city, within the area shown on the map as 'Cemetery.' Today no trace of a cemetery can be seen in this area; however, there is a cemetery further to the east.
