Editor's Note
Adramyttium was an ancient city on the shore of the Gulf of Adramyttium, bounded by the Madra Mountains to the east and Mount Ida to the north. According to ancient sources its founder was Adramys, son of the Lydian king Alyattes and brother of Croesus. With its strategic position for maritime trade and defence, it was one of the most important cities of ancient Mysia. The settlement was later moved northeast and is today known as Edremit.
