Editor's Note
The factory building, which reflects the Neoclassical style, probably dates to the late 19th century. The Madra family, who migrated from the island of Lesbos, became one of Ayvalık's pioneering families in the field of olive oil. The three-section building, used for many years as an olive oil factory and soap works, has long stood idle. Its chimneys are not original.
