Editor's Note
The Chapel of Saint Constantine stood southwest of the old Greek Hospital, in the Sefa Çamlık neighbourhood. On the feast day of Saint Constantine, the 21st of March, Ayvalık families would gather in groups beneath the shade of the great pine trees for celebrations that lasted all day. Left untended after the population exchange, the chapel gradually fell into ruin, and most of it now lies buried underground.
