Editor's Note
It was founded in 1899 by Muderriszade Hilmi Efendi on Bayramyeri Street in the Hekimzade neighbourhood. The works, also known as the "Sabitogullari Oil Factory," was renovated three times, the last being in 1948. For the plant, which operated on a hydraulic stone-press system, a Wolf-brand boiler purchased from Germany in 1924 was brought by sea from Magdeburg to Izmir, and on from there to Edremit by ox-cart.
