Havran is home to one of the few surviving old Ottoman Muslim cemeteries in Turkey. Set among centuries-old cypresses on the right-hand side of Havran's entrance, the Havran Cemetery is a significant piece of cultural heritage, embodying the full richness of the Ottoman gravestone tradition with its centuries of history and superbly carved headstones. Covering 65,000 square metres, the cemetery was laid out centuries ago as the "Great Havran Cemetery" and the "Little Havran Cemetery," which were merged in the 1990s to give it its present form.
