Editor's Note
Asartepe Castle is a registered archaeological site standing on Asar Tepe, a hill that commands its surroundings through its natural topography, within the Büyükyenice-İkizce Quarter of the İvrindi district of Balıkesir. Placed under protection as a cultural property by decision no. 6791 of the Bursa Regional Council for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage, dated 31 March 2017, the castle is dated to the Roman and Byzantine periods based on both its architectural remains and the archaeological finds identified on the surface.
