Editor's Note
Because the inscription of this mosque in the Bergama district of İzmir has not survived, its construction date and patron remain uncertain. Judging by its style, it is thought to have been built in the late 14th or early 15th century. It is said that the Church of Agia Apokalipsis once stood here, and that during the period of the beyliks a zaviye and later a mescit were built over the ruined church. Built of rubble, ashlar and brick tie-courses, this mescit is square in plan and covered by a dome on an octagonal drum.
