From the inscription on the prayer-hall door, it is understood that the building was commissioned by Sultan Mahmud II in H.1253 / 1837-38 CE. The mosque has a rectangular plan, with a flat wooden ceiling inside and a hipped roof outside. Its plan type consists of two aisles running perpendicular to the mihrab.
