After this they decided to capture Bursa. Before marching on Bursa, Kütahya had to be brought under control. As a result, the forces of Şahkulu Baba reached the city of Kütahya, the centre of the Anatolian Beylerbeylik. On the Anatolian road they were met by the Anatolian Beylerbeyi Karagöz Ahmed Pasha together with his army. Despite Karagöz Ahmed Pasha's efforts, he could not overcome the rebels and was even taken captive during the battle. The Ottoman army was forced to retreat, and its supplies fell into the hands of the rebels. After this battle, Şahkulu and his forces attempted to enter Kütahya.
