The Cacabey Medrese is an important Seljuk monument in the centre of Kırşehir. The medrese was built in 1271-1272. It was commissioned by Nurettin Cibril Bin Cacabey, the Emir of Kırşehir. Its construction coincides with the Anatolian Seljuk State and the reign of Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev III. The building originally functioned as a medrese, where astronomy, mathematics and the natural sciences in particular were taught. By the 19th century the medrese is thought to have fallen into ruin.
