Editor's Note
The Tomb of Mikdat Dede is a domed mausoleum built of cut stone and dated, on the basis of its architectural features, probably to the first half of the 12th century. As no inscription survives, the dating rests solely on structural and stylistic qualities. The tomb displays a heavy, plain architectural style dominated by large stone blocks. The building has a nearly square, rectangular prismatic body. The body walls are largely built of large cut stones reaching 0.45 x 1.20 metres. The lower part of the walls is chamfered down to the ground, while the upper part terminates in a profiled cornice.
