Editor's Note
The Ağırnas Union and Progress School was built between 1909 and 1911 by Mustafa of Ağırnas. Sources state that the building was erected in honour of the proclamation of the Second Constitutional Era, and it is also recorded that Muammer Bey, the governor of Kayseri at the time, played an important role in the process. The two-storey building extends along a south-north axis. The entrance on the western façade is accentuated by a round-arched portico carried on three marble columns. The column capitals are worked in a classical diamond-pattern style, offering an elegant architectural detail.
