The Çavdaroğlu Mansion was built in 1928. Although it is sometimes called the "Cihannümâ Mansion" among the locals, this is not the building's official name. It is called this because it has a cihannümâ chamber. The term "cihannümâ" is of Persian origin and means "world-viewer"; in Ottoman residential architecture it refers to a glass-enclosed chamber, usually set within the roof, from which the view can be taken in comfortably. Because it readily commands striking views, it is sometimes also seen as an independent structure in the form of a tower or pavilion in palaces or grand mansions.
