According to the inscription on its entrance facade, the Çarşı Mosque was built in 1905 (AH 1321). The mosque was conceived as a small complex with its L-shaped medrese and its sebil (public fountain). This kind of layout was used frequently in Anatolia during this period. Today the sebil mentioned above can no longer be found, while the medrese, whose northern section has collapsed, has had its plan turned into a rectangle by a later addition and has lost nearly all of its original character. The L-shaped medrese and the sebil can still be seen on an old development plan.
