The bath, a Seljuk work, was built by Selçuk Bey, son of Umurbey, according to a document in the land-survey register of the Prime Ministry Archive. Tahsin Özalp, however, drawing on Umurbey's endowment deed, states that the bath was built by Umurbey in 1175.
