Recorded as the Murad Hudâvendigâr Mosque in the great endowment register of the Çanakkale Directorate of Foundations, it stands in the village of Behramkale, built upon the ruins of the ancient harbor city of Assos on the Gulf of Edremit. Because the inscription giving its construction date is not in place, the date is uncertain, as the building sits atop a high rock mass north of the acropolis. However, firm Ottoman control over the region began under [Murad] I.
