Editor's Note
It lies at the Kaledag Hill locality within the boundaries of Erecek village in the Ayvacik district of Canakkale province. On the hilltop site, the remains of a pear-shaped fortification wall have been found. The wall, built with the dry-stone technique, appears to have been constructed with a method generally datable to the Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic periods. Since the surface survey on the site did not turn up large amounts of pottery, the fortress is thought to have served a purely military function rather than being a settlement.
