Editor's Note
The lighthouse, whose light is watched from the island of Lesbos, entered service on 1 January 1863 on Sivrice Dogu Burnu (Sivrice East Cape) within the boundaries of the Ayvacik district of Canakkale province. Its height above sea level is 18 meters, its tower height 12 meters, and its visibility range 15 miles. A flashing light with a 400-watt electric battery-powered bulb, it stands in a remarkably unspoiled area. Visited by those who come to the guesthouses of Sokakagzi cove to spend their holidays, the Sivrice lighthouse, like the Sarpincik and Babakale lighthouses, guides sailors, fishing boats and yachts at Anatolia's farthest points opening onto the Aegean Sea.
