It lies within the boundaries of Camkalabak village in the Ayvacik district of Canakkale province. At the site found at the village entrance to the south of the village, Middle Paleolithic stone tools, flake fragments and cores made of the region's distinctive jasper have been discovered, identified by their production techniques and typologies. Although the tools found at this settlement are generally associated with Neanderthal populations, they may also be linked to other human species such as Homo heidelbergensis or Homo erectus, or even early Homo sapiens. In this sense, the site is dated to the final part of the Middle Paleolithic, estimated to around the period BC.
