On learning of the events in Kutahya, Sahkulu Baba sent a fresh military force against Haydar Pasha. Their armies met at the place called the Kutahya Gorge. The battle ended in victory for the rebels, and Haydar Pasha was killed. When news of Haydar Pasha's death reached the Ottoman court, they resolved to take more serious measures.
