Editor's Note
This is the Şerif Pasha Mansion in the Kocakonak neighborhood, just outside the town, which gives its name to the area, one of the earliest and most magnificent examples of civil architecture in the center of Sındırgı district. Situated on a hill commanding the area, the building is two stories high and has an open-hall (external sofa) layout. As construction materials, rubble stone and brick in places were used on the lower level, and mudbrick on the upper floor. On the western corner of the building's south façade facing the road, a date carved in stone reading "sene 1253 (1837–38)" draws attention.
