The hospital was first established in 1910 on a plot near the Eşrefpaşa Hospital in Tepecik, set up as an isolation unit because of a cholera epidemic. In 1911 it gained the status of a hospital. It was used as a smallpox hospital during a smallpox outbreak, and as a quarantine station during the cholera epidemic that occurred during the Balkan Wars. In 1916 a building was constructed by the Special Administration, and administrative and laboratory buildings were added. See: Dr.
