Editor's Note
Construction of the building began in 1909 as the Greek Evangelical School, but although it was described in 1922 as the École Évangélique de Smyrne, it was never used as an educational institution. After 1922 it served as the İzmir Girls' Sultani, and later as the İnönü Girls' High School until 1936. Because the 1925 development plan placed it facing the city park, there was a proposal to use the Girls' High School as a hotel/accommodation facility for guests coming to the İzmir Fair, organised by the fair committee. After lengthy debate, the Municipal Council decided that it should be used as the Second Boys' High School.
