Although the old artefact records held in the İzmir Museum state that the mosque was commissioned in AH 1311 (AD 1893) by Bezzar Ali Efendi, the registers in the İzmir land survey ledgers show that it is in fact older. This is evident from the entry '...the 38-household neighbourhood of the masjid of Selattin-zade...' in a ledger dated AH 935 (AD 1529), and from the records in the detailed survey of the Sığla district dated AH 983 (AD 1575).
