When it comes to Jewish heritage in İzmir, the building that most readily comes to mind after the synagogues is the one now used as the Historic Manisa Akhisar Hotel. Reached through a narrow passage, the hotel is a kortijo (Jewish communal dwelling) built around a rear courtyard. The section on the left side is of typical kortijo architecture and today houses migrants as well as people known to have lodged here for years and featured in documentaries.
