Editor's Note
It opened for instruction at the close of the Balkan War. For seven years the building served as the Union and Progress Model School. The school later began operating under the name Dumlupınar Primary School. For a time it also housed the İzmir Public Education Centre, and from 1987 it functioned as the Konak Public Education Centre. After a fire in 2003 left it unusable, only its façade walls remained. The building was restored and brought back to life in 2020.
