Editor's Note
Sarıkışla (Kışla-i Hümayun) was a large administrative building erected in 1829 on İzmir's Konak Square. Before its demolition it was one of the symbols of the city; its 1955 demolition by the municipality has since come to be regarded as a grave loss for the city's heritage.
